Grousing About...
by Ben Grousing
Patience

(July 16, 2004) Where in the world has our patience gone? I often look around in wonder and wonder, I am both in the state of "wonderment", as well as curious to myself, how could things be as they are? So pressing.

I am, for example, amazed, when in the line at the grocery store. Folks behind be and around me shuffle like rabid dogs for the "pole position", that highly sought after spot in line, because, both you and I know any additional minutes spent is wasted time. God only knows what would happen to everyone's fragile mind if they actually had to occupy their own time with thought.

I am, for example, shocked, when a car swerves lanes, throws on the accelerator, and has a "near miss" from total disaster, to muscle three more cars in front of me. The seconds extra saved to their respective destinations must be immeasurably important, whereas their obvious willingness to put, not only their lives, but the lives of others on the line couldn't just be to gain a car length or two. Could it?

I am, for example, startled, when someone's inner turmoil come to such a crescendo that they actually act out in public. Visibly so disturbed by whatever has been gnawing at their nerves that the additional minutes, in whatever line it may be (the registry perhaps), they are no longer able to contain their discontent. Apparently, once again, the pressing nature of everyone's ?things to do next? are just too much weight for the common mind to bear.

I am, by nature, patient. I find the behaviors of those who either don't understand how long things take, or don't believe that they should wait, or put others at risk due to their impatience, as incredibly shallow. It, in fact, disgusts me.

Good luck finding your patience if you have lost it, I guarantee you will live an easier life if you find it.
