Something New I have been walking on the old farm for many years, now, and thought I had completed the list of animals that are here. I’ve seen turtles, possums, all kinds of song birds and raptors, great blue herons, skunks, red and gray foxes, deer, turkeys, well, you get the idea. But now there is more. I was down by ...

A Time for Love The birds are singing again! That means spring will come, no matter how hard winter tries to hold on. This winter has been more like the winters I remember as a child. There was lots of snow and much colder weather than we generally have now. I remember that early spring was cold, and no one planted until the end of May. Now we seem to go directly from winter to summer, with no in between weather.

When saying “no” is an act of courage Sal DiMasi may have been on the right side of many issues, in the eyes of party activists, and he may well be a brilliant, capable attorney and legislator. Meet Sally Fiore Everyone needs a friend like Sally Fiore. Last month, Sally, a Kingston artist and photographer gave me a batch of Christmas cookies to die for. Naturally, I begged for the recipe. Sally not only gave me the cookie recipe, but arrived at my home with all of the ingredients in a recycled container with the recipe artfully attached. When was the last time someone did that for you? If you know Sally, actions like this are a daily occurrence in her life. Sally's life is centered around love and kindness. Him and Her for February 2009 HIM: She thinks I am too macabre. She says it’s a sign of old age, and I don’t dispute her. She says it is all so depressing and that I am obsessed. She is referring to the fact that I have begun reading the obituary pages in the Ledger, Enterprise and Reporter on a much more regular basis. “Why can’t you pick a paper and read ‘em to your heart’s content?” It’s because I don’t want to miss a single one. The Ledger doesn’t carry all the Brockton deaths nor does the Enterprise cover many of the Quincy notices. The Reporter gives us the Tri-Town area and Pembroke. I don’t want to miss a one of them.
The Kingston Observer will no longer publish. The web site will be up for a few more days.
We wish to thank those who generously gave their support and had work to the endeavor. Our loyal advertisers, Royal Garden, Stinky Monkey, Clippership Insurance, We Print Today, PRFirst, Gypsum Specialists, and Sovereign Bank, brought the paper to you.
The word ‘thanks’ is inadequate when applied to the dedication of Dennis Randall, Judy Randall, Dot Mac Farlane, Jim Farrell, Susannah Locketti, and Neil Corcoran.
We thank you, our readers, and those who offered encouragement through the years.
