While the matter of Lisa McNeill’s return to her secretarial position on the ZBA is being negotiated, Zoning Board Chairman John Haas continues to raise eyebrows with his position of arrogance.
During a period of time when he should be backing off from his previous blunders that have placed his board and the Town at risk, his errant thought process remains troubling.
One could only wonder what McNeill’s thoughts are when considering her possible return to the Town’s employ with e-mail passages such as the one received by Town Administrator Kevin Donovan from Haas and secured via our request of public records:
Kevin,
I have been in meetings all morning and have a break so can send you a quick email. I would think the requirements we have recently discussed, including manning an office in the TH, would not be considered retributive in any way as we defined them long before the action taken to reinstate Lisa McNeill. I also think if she is going to do basically what she did before, the wages should be adjusted. I assume that we are given a budgeted amount and could therefore distribute it according to how many hours are actually worked??? Maybe not, just a thought. The job should pay about $20/hour which translates into about 450 hours or about 8-9 hours per week. She was working maybe 3-4 hours a week, if that, which got her a tidy $40-60 per hour. I don't think that is appropriate pay for a part time secretary. Somehow she should be working the 8-9 hours per week and it should be serving the Town not just the Board. Maybe that's not possible either. Just my thoughts on the issue.
Regards,
John
McNeill is keeping her thoughts under wraps until Friday when a decision is expected to be reached. In the meantime the ZBA is expected to be silent on this matter when they meet this evening at 7:00.
