Independence Mall is proud to announce a new green initiative which will not only help reduce the malls carbon footprint but also raise money for Kingston schools. Independence Mall has partnered with the Paper Retriever Program to have two green and yellow paper recycling dumpsters placed at the mall. Mall tenants and customers are encouraged to utilize this great service. All newspapers, magazines, office and school papers, folders, fax paper, shopping catalogs and mail can be placed in the container for recycling. All funds earned from recycling will go to the Kingston Public Schools.
Additionally Independence Mall has helped reduce their carbon footprint by;
· Using over 90% green approved cleaning products
· Recycling all cardboard containers for the entire mall
- Installing waterless urinals and touch free faucets that save tens of thousands of gallons of water a year.
- Using energy efficient fluorescent bulbs throughout the mall
- Developed a fluorescent bulb recycling program for mall tenants for proper disposal
