The Search Committee consists of Sewer Committee Chair Elaine Fiore, former Selectman Olly DeMacedo, FinCom member Jason Lelio, Selectman Sandy MacFarlane, and School Superintendent John Tuffy. There were 20 applicants for the position and by the end of their first meeting that number was carved down to eight. Actual interviews began on the evening of March 2 when three applicants were heard. They will hear three more on March 9, and two more a few nights later. Sacred Heart Speech & DebateThe Sacred Heart High School Speech & Debate Team enters the New Year with a string of successes behind them. The Team closed out December competitions with a four day trip to the campus of George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. Fourteen varsity members of the team were entered in 30 events at this prestigious National Tournament. Those attending were Scott Mason, Helene Dick, Meagan Antonellis, Courtney Buohl, Joe Nelson, Julia Murray, Haille MacInnis, Evan Grande, Carl Olson, Dale Morgan, Matt Pink, Danielle Ohrenberger and Emily Barry. Zach Eisenstein of Plymouth had been selected to participate in a special round robin competition where the top students in the country squared off against each other in a grueling all day marathon. 77 schools from across the country participated in the three day event with Sacred Heart placing 6th overall. Town Administrator Kevin Donovan has resigned effective Feb. 20. On Feb. 23 he will assume his new duties as CEO of South Field, a new community at the site of the former Weymouth Naval Air Station. Donovan succeeds Terry Fancher of Braintree who stepped down as director last August. In published reports, Fancher said the project now needs someone with municipal experience. Mayflower Congregational Church to host Family Fun Night Feb. 6The Mayflower Congregational Church will host a free Family Fun Night Friday, February 6, beginning at 7 p.m. at the Mayflower Congregational Church, 207 Main Street.
The event will take place at the Briggs Building behind the Church. The evening will feature a film, and there will be games available for family members to participate in.
Light refreshments will be served, and there is no cost to attend.
Reverend John Dale, Pastor of Mayflower Congregational Church, said, “We hope to hold a number of these events to reach out to the community. We were very pleased at the number of visitors that we had at the recent Luminary Celebration, and we encourage members of the community to come by and share an evening with their neighbors and friends.”

Carrie Elliot (former Kingston library historian) and Riley McCarthy a visitor to Bog Hollow from Sandwich wish all a very Happy Holidays from Bog Hollow Farm owned by Barry and Lydia Mathias. Despite the weather last Sunday people came from all around to have a hay ride and get a fresh cut Christmas Tree for the holidays. A good time was had by all.
